I had my first routine appointment at the doctor yesterday and got some surprising news. I'm having not just one baby but TWO!!! I'm still in the terrified freaking out stage but I will come to terms with it before the babies come. During my restless sleep last night I tried to think of things I'm thankful for. Here is my list...
- I'm thankful that Bijou will be turning 5 when the babies are born and Olive will be 15. This means that our older two children can dress themselves, feed themselves, and use the toilet properly.
- I'm thankful that Olive is a good teenager and doesn't cause us any trouble.
- I'm thankful that Bijou got her wish ("I hope it's twin babies.") because I think this means she will be eager to help. She told me she will give the babies their bottles and help push the stroller at the park.
- I'm thankful that Doug was excited to hear the news. This is making it easier for me to jump on board.
- I'm thankful I have a smart, responsible and successful husband who can support our family of 6!
- I'm thankful it's fraternal twins. I've heard identical twins can have more issues competing with each other and finding their own identity.
- I'm thankful that I'm only 31 and that I will have the energy for this.
- I'm thankful that I don't work.
- I'm thankful I have a large network of supporting friends and family eager to give me hand-me-downs and offer support.
- And last but not least, I'm thankful for this blog so I have a place to write about this crazy experience. It may morph into a parenting blog for a while but I hope to someday sneak in a craft or cooking project or two. Can you imagine what I will be like when I'm in my third trimester nesting phase?
hooray for twins! i know it's scary, but twins can be a good thing. I PROMISE! if you don't believe me, ask my mom.

I seriously can't wait to be an aunty to the twins! It's so special and so rare. I feel so lucky to get to be a part of them growning up. It will be so fun when they are little and we don't even have to fight over who gets to hold the baby. I also look forward to getting more time with Bijou. She can come and stay with us anytime before and after the twins arrive. How awesome life will be and how lucky to have such a big family.
