Over Memorial Day weekend, we attended a Carnaval celebration in San Francisco. We arrived post-parade and were a bit disappointed to find that we had missed most of the cultural aspects of the celebration. The festival itself had your typical vendors selling imported goods, skewered meat, corn on the cob, churros and cotton candy.
Although, we enjoyed sampling the junk food over the course of two-hours and Bijou enjoyed her 4 minutes in the bounce house, our highlight was stumbling upon Kid Power Park and Paxton Gate's new shop, Curiosities For Kids. I fell in love with a little shadow puppet theater they sold there and bought 2 puppets. However, I decided to make my own theater (coming soon...) and will make a few more puppets on craft night (this Thursday, yeah!) to join the dragon and dinosaur I already purchased.
Thanks for the great idea! We have a puppet theater with a few big puppets and a lot of finger puppets, but I've never thought about shadow puppets. My boys are just getting old enough to enjoy putting on shows... looking forward to seeing your theater!
