When I was a kid, I'd ask my parents every year during the holidays what they wanted for Christmas. And every year they told me, "something handmade." I always thought that sounded so lame and wondered, "why wouldn't you want something from the mall?" Well, I've really done a 180 on this one.
This project idea came from Amanda Soule's book, The Creative Family. These little "joy jars" make the perfect homemade holiday gift from your children. I used empty baby jars and Happy Tape but any empty jar and combination of sequins, tape, paint, glue, tissue paper, cotton balls, etc. will do.
To make:
1. Decorate the jar.
2. Have your child write down or tell you things they like about the person receiving the jar as a gift or things they like to do with that person.
3. Write each thing down on a separate piece of paper and stuff the "joy" into the jar.
Here were the things that were written down in my jar...
1. I like to play games with you.
2. I like to play outside with you.
3. I like to give you hugs and kisses.
Ahh, so sweet. Thanks B!
