Doug told me about this place where he used to hang out in high school. The San Francisco equivalent to drinking on the cliffs in Santa Cruz, I suppose. It was a private swimming pool complex in the late 19th century but burned down in 1966 and was abandoned but you can still visit the ruins.
Our first stop was lunch at the Bistro at the Cliff House. I hadn't been here since my sister's college graduation brunch which I happened to be way to hungover to appreciate but made for a memorable morning, nonetheless. Bijou indulged in the late breakfast menu and had french toast. I decided on fish and chips and entertained us by Googling the celebrities on the wall who had dined here back in the heyday.
The short hike from the restaurant to the baths was perfect for a 7-year-old.
I highly recommend a day trip if you are even in the Bay. The ocean in this area is fierce so it might not be a suitable outing for very young children.
Great shots!
We went to Sutro Baths for the first time about a month ago. The ocean truly is beautiful and it's such an atmospheric place on a foggy day. I love looking at ruins and thinking about what they must have been like back in their hey day. What an amazing place Sutro Baths must have been back in the early 20th century.

Hi Sally! So nice to "virtually" meet you. I loved seeing the photos of you and your sweet girls at Sutro Baths. So fun to see our two perspectives. Interesting to hear you are doing some time in the US from Australia. My family is moving to France in August and I'm super excited and terrified. I love to meet up to ask about your transition to a new place, etc.

Moving to France! What an amazing adventure for you and your family. My husband and I lived in Switzerland years ago and I'd love to give our kids the same opportunity. Of course, for now they're getting to experience life in America and while we've been here over 18 months there are still new experiences for us all the time.
I'd love to meet up at some point. I'll send you an email.
